Welcome Autumn!

A festival of tradition and taste welcomes Autumn on Sunday, 9th October, in a village close to Oltrella. We won't miss it, and you?

Do you like autumn? we do like it, a lot, because it brings tasty products including pumpkins and chestnuts. In October it is common, here in northern Italy, to go and search for chestnuts in the woods, pick them up, then roast and eat them back home. Yummy! At this time chestnuts are often protagonists of fairs and festivals that, in addition to welcome autumn and its fruits, are good opportunities to celebrate ancient traditions and appreciate local crafts.

One of these festivals will be held next Sunday, October 9th, near Oltrella, and we will not miss the opportunity to stop by. It is the Festival of Autumn in Poggio Ferrato, in the municipality of Val di Nizza, which this year reaches its twenty-second edition.

The day's program promises to be eventful, with craft markets and local products, exhibitions, readings, musical entertainment, sports, shows and games. The eateries  will offer the classics: polenta and wild boar, sausage and mushrooms, the typical salami of Varzi and, in the afternoon, roasted chestnuts and schite (simple pancakes made with flour, milk and eggs).

Below the poster with the detailed program (in Italian) and contact details. We wish to all visitors, and to ourselves, good fun for the next Sunday.
